About

Located in leafy Gordon Park, just 15 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, we offer our services to families predominantly living on Brisbane’s northside.

As an early learning centre, our philosophy at The Brook is that each child is unique, and as such, we cater to their individual personalities and optimal potential through our innovative implementation of ‘learning by playing’. By doing so, children are better able to understand the world in which they live through our planned early education programs which activate their capacity to participate, communicate, investigate, create and reflect.

We enjoy the benefits of great relationships and partnerships with local schools, businesses, sporting clubs, Emergency Services, Hospitals and the many local charities we gladly support through hosting events and fundraising.

Friday the 19th of November, marked round 2 of Sprout Vs Stem Games in our Junior Space. Due to the wet weather we had to improvise, however lots of fun and laughs were had as we participated in bean bag toss, dino bucket, pass the ball, build a tower and the ever popular Musical Freeze!
Miss Sarah was kind enough to adjudicate and we had a fantastic morning with the competition ending in a tye! Bring on Round 3!

Our Toddler's excursion to the local park!

At The Brook we acknowledge playing outdoors is important for developing capacities for creativity, problem solving and intellectual development. Outdoor play has clear physical benefits for developing children including helping children to acquire gross motor skills, hand eye coordination, social skills and sensory stimulation which includes seeing, hearing, touching and smelling.The children in our Bud room were given the opportunity to exercise these skills by exploring our local community and the natural world that surrounds us.

Our Flourish Kindergarten celebrated a year of learning, focusing on Mother Earth, the land, animals, plants and the history of the traditional owners of the land. Delivering a program in this way, aligns with all five areas of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines over four terms. This is evident in our everyday learning from the acknowledgment of Country each morning, yarning together regularly and caring and respecting our environment to name a few along with endless many other learning opportunities.

On Wednesday the children had the opportunity to attend Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre to learn to care for self, others and place and ultimately care for the Turrbal peoples’ country we learn upon.

The children shared their year of knowledge with the Elders and Mother Earth herself as we explored the forest and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait ways of living and being.

Before the children entered the forest, we gathered in a circle and sang ‘Taba Naba’ which is a song the children regularly sing in the Kindergarten class using clapping sticks to let Mother Earth know we are here. Together we will explored the fauna and flora, people, stories, drama and the places that make Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre unique.

What a wonderful day to extend our knowledge and acquire new learnings.

The Brook has a dedicated team of early education professionals who have worked tirelessly since opening in 2016 to create an experience for children and their families which is centred around encouraging a joy of learning.

We operate with dedicated education and support staff at each of our centres, plus a management team overseeing all aspects of operations, recruitment, education programs, enrolments, marketing, nutrition and dietary requirements.
