At St Clare Group children’s safety is our utmost priority. Nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of all children in our care. We have a zero tolerance approach to any type of behaviour that puts children at risk and live by the 10 principals of the Child Safe Standards by incorporating them into our everyday practices.

At St Clare Group we:

  • Provide mandatory annual training for all educators and staff in Child Protection at the highest level in Qld

  • Ensure that all educators and support staff have a valid and verified Working With Children Check – these are checked monthly for expiry and kept on a schedule of staff

  • Have developed clear and concise policies for Child Protection, and Code of Conduct

  • Have clear Mandatory Reporting policies – all educators are Mandatory Reporters

  • Provide additional Child Protection qualifications for our Responsible Persons

  • Adhere to the Statement of Shared Commitment – every child in our service deserves to feel safe – culturally, emotionally and physically.

In addition – to keep children safe:

  • Have embedded Safe Sleep practices following the Red Nose principles

  • Food allergy training, awareness and processes

  • Security with Pin Codes on all doors to access the centre

  • CCTV in all areas where children are present

  • Emergency Preparedness – we practice fire drills, lockdowns and emergency procedures regularly to ensure a smooth operation in case of an emergency

  • Supervision mirrors and practice active supervision

  • above child : educator ratios where possible

  • have Sun Safe practices to keep children free from sunburn
